Job descriptionFull-Time Artisan Trainee for High-End Lighting Parts Production - Metalwork & Patina Expertise PreferredWork for Allied Maker, a leader in luxury-crafted lighting fixtures based in Glen Cove, New York.
We design and manufacture our entire collection of work and ship globally.
We have an esteemed reputation in the design industry and are trusted by the top interior designers and architects in the field.
We are seeking full-time trainees to join a team of passionate artisans to produce high-end lighting parts.
Candidates should be comfortable working with metal and patinas.
Our finishing department produces 6 brass patina finish techniques.
You will train to handle our various parts from prep to finish.
Finishes will be added as you master techniques.
Collaborate with Senior Finishers to bring unique, handcrafted designs to life.
You will learn to consistently create meticulous handcrafted, bench-made finishes.
We also continually make improvements our workshop floor, improving our jigs and tools.
You will learn how to continually elevate and evolve to create heirloom quality lighting for the home.
To be considered, you must live or relocate to Long Island ( Queens, Brooklyn, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties).
Key ResponsibilitiesArtisanal Craftsmanship Training:
Learn and perfect brass patina finish techniques unique to our studio.
Quality Control and Precision:
Take pride in maintaining the highest quality standards by meticulously comparing your work against control samples, ensuring each piece aligns with our reputation for heirloom-quality lighting.
Innovative Problem Solving:
Engage in creative problem-solving daily, contributing ideas on how to enhance our crafting techniques and tool efficiency for producing superior handcrafted finishes.
Collaborative Teamwork:
Collaborate in a dynamic team setting, sharing insights and techniques to collectively elevate the quality and efficiency of our production processes.
Workshop Organization and Maintenance:
Maintain an exemplary work environment, organizing tools and materials for optimal efficiency, and upholding our studio's standards of cleanliness and order.
Continuous Learning and Adaptation:
Demonstrate a keen willingness to continually learn and adapt, embracing new techniques and methods to evolve with the ever-changing dynamics of artisanal lighting production.
Material Assessment and Selection:
Exercise discernment in material selection, identifying brass pieces best suited for finishing and flagging any with imperfections to maintain our high standard of quality.
Safety and Equipment Handling:
Adhere to strict safety protocols while skillfully handling equipment such as sandblasters, buffer wheels, and lathes, ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
Product Development Contribution:
Participate in product development discussions, offering insights from the finishing perspective to help design products that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also practical to produce.
Customer Satisfaction Focus:
Contribute to overall customer satisfaction by ensuring each piece you work on reflects the high-quality standards our clients expect.
RequiredRequired Skills:
Experience with sandblasting, buffer wheels, lathes, and hand tools should be cultivated to perform the job well.
Physically able to lift 50 lbs.
